Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

The Article Processing Charge (APC) on accepted articles is $300.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper.

When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

Preparation of Manuscripts

  • Download and submit your article on the journal template. Only articles on the journal template will be considered for review.
  • The first page should contain the title of paper, author’s name/s, institutional affiliations including postal address of all authors and address for correspondence including telephone, and email details. In the case of joint authorship (shall not exceed five authors), authors should indicate which of them should receive correspondences from the editorial office.
  • Provide an abstract of not more than 200 words, and five (5) keywords.
  • References: The MDPI Referencing Format will be followed. In-text reference citations should be numbered in order of appearance in the text (including citations in tables and legends) and listed individually at the end of the manuscript. Reuse the same reference number if you cite that source again later. For example [1], [1–3] or [1,3]. For embedded citations in the text with pagination, use both parentheses and brackets to indicate the reference number and page numbers; for example [5] (p. 10), or [6] (pp. 101–105).
References at the end of the manuscript contain more details about sources referred to in the text. Sources are arranged alphabetically according to the surnames of the authors. When more than one publication of the same author/s are referred to, they should be arranged chronologically according to years of publication. If more than one publication of the same author/s appeared in one year, they should be distinguished by ‘a’, ‘b’ etc., e.g. 1982a, 1982b.

Citations: Authors are encouraged to cite at least one or more references from the past edition of the Journal, which can be found in reputable libraries or on https://aps.journals.ac.za/pub
