About the Journal

The Journal of African Population Studies (JAPS) is a biannual, peer-reviewed journal that publishes original research articles, reviews, commentaries, letters, and case studies on topics related to the disciplines represented by the Union for African Population Studies. These disciplines include demography, population studies, public health, epidemiology, social statistics, population geography, development studies, economics and other social sciences that deal with population and development interrelationships that are unique and relevant to Africa and global audience.

The journal was formerly known as African Population Studies (APS) and was being hosted by the Stellenbosch University Library until its relaunch in 2022. You can access all archives from 2021 and beyond at https://aps.journals.ac.za/pub. This journal is published by UAPS as part of its objectives to foster the visibility of scientific research on Africa population.
