Abstract: This paper reviews Nigeria's population policy which was adopted during the first quarter of 1988. The policy has been adopted at a time of social and economic stress. The policy document is divided into eight sections, each section highlights demographic and socio-economic aspects of the society. The major constraints to the realisation of the policy objectives are mentioned and the future prospects to the year 2000 are appraised.
